UV markers, 355 nm

UV Laser Marking Machine 3–10 W (355 nm)

Models · MW-UV03 · MW-UV05 · MW-UV10

A 355 nm UV laser marker for fine, low-heat marks on plastics, glass, PCBs and coated parts. UV light breaks molecular bonds instead of melting the surface, so marks stay sharp with a very small heat-affected zone. It suits electronics, medical, cosmetics and pharmaceutical packaging work where heat would discolour or deform the part.

Overview

A UV laser works at 355 nm, a third of the wavelength of a fiber laser. At this wavelength the mark is made mainly by photochemical action: the laser energy breaks the bonds between molecules, and the material leaves the surface as small fragments. Very little heat spreads into the part. The focused spot is also very small, which is why UV is the usual choice for ultra-fine marks.

The result is a crisp mark on materials that a fiber laser would melt, burn or discolour: clear and coloured plastics, glass, crystal, silicon, flexible PCBs and coated surfaces. UV also marks most metals for fine surface work.

FAQ

About this machine

When should I choose UV instead of a fiber laser?

Choose UV when heat would damage or discolour the part: plastics, glass, PCBs, thin films and packaging that must stay clean. For plain marks on steel and aluminium, a fiber laser is faster and the simpler choice.

Can it mark glass?

Yes. UV is used for marks on glassware and crystal and for etching thin-film coatings. Results depend on the glass type, so we recommend testing a sample.

Which power should I pick?

3 W covers fine marks on plastics and packaging. 5 and 10 W mark faster and give more margin on difficult materials. Tell us the part and the cycle time you need and we will recommend one.

Is it air- or water-cooled?

The 3–10 W machines in this listing are water-cooled. A desktop version has also been offered with air cooling, so confirm the cooling method with your quote.
