Jewelry laser welders

Split Jewelry Laser Welder 60 / 120 / 200 W (QCW fiber, MW-QW)

Models · MW-QW

A QCW fiber laser welder in split form: a laser cabinet with carry handles next to an open welding stand with an HD CCD camera, lift table and height-adjustable head. Average power is 60, 120 or 200 W with 600–2000 W peak. Air-cooled, for jewelry and watch work that needs free access around the part.

Overview

This welder uses a QCW (quasi-continuous wave) fiber laser instead of a lamp-pumped YAG source. It fires long, high-peak pulses, up to 2000 W peak on the 200 W version, that fuse fine metal parts with a small, precise spot. The fiber source has almost no consumables and is rated for more than 100,000 hours.

The split layout separates the laser cabinet from the welding stand. The stand carries the welding head on a column with a handwheel and height scale, an HD CCD camera with its own monitor, a flexible gas nozzle and a lab-jack lift table for positioning the part.

FAQ

About this machine

What is a QCW fiber laser, and how does it differ from YAG?

A QCW (quasi-continuous wave) fiber laser fires long, high-peak pulses like a YAG welder, but from a diode-pumped fiber source. There is no flash lamp to replace, it is air-cooled instead of needing a water chiller, and beam quality is 1–2 mm·mrad. The source is rated for more than 100,000 hours.

Why a split design?

The laser cabinet and the welding stand are separate units. You can place the cabinet beside or under the bench, and the open stand gives free access around the part on the lift table. The cabinet has carry handles.

Which power should I choose?

Pulse energy rises with power: 6 J at 60 W, 12 J at 120 W and 35 J at 200 W for this model. Fine chain and light jewelry work sit at the lower end; thicker parts need more. Send us samples and we will recommend a version.

How do I aim the laser?

An HD CCD camera above the weld point feeds a monitor on the stand, with a crosshair on screen. You set the head height with a handwheel and scale, and raise the part on the lift table.
