Vertical wall printers

3D Vertical Wall Printer, Epson DX7 (CMYK)

Our basic vertical wall printer: an Epson DX7 head printing four colours (CMYK) on a folding frame, 2.5 m high with unlimited width, at up to 2880 dpi and 8 m²/h. It has the same ultrasonic wall sensing, LED UV curing and USB 3.0 link as the Touch-Screen 3D Wall Printer, but without the second head and white ink, so it suits murals on white or light-coloured walls.

Overview

The 3D Vertical Wall Printer prints murals straight onto a wall in four colours. The machine stands on a wheeled floor rail in front of the wall. The print carriage runs up the mast and prints a vertical band, then the printer steps along the rail and prints the next one. Print height is 2.5 m and width is unlimited.

An Epson DX7 head prints at up to 2880 dpi with a 3.0 pl droplet. Speed is 8 m²/h in draft and standard modes and 5 m²/h in high-resolution mode. The manufacturer quotes 60–100 m² of print per litre of ink.

Configuration

  • Head: Epson DX7, CMYK.
  • Ink supply: four independent piezoelectric supplies, one per colour, for steady ink flow at high firing frequency.
  • Wall sensing: an ultrasonic probe measures the wall distance about 30 times a second and adjusts for unevenness up to 3 cm.
  • Curing: an LED UV lamp cures the ink as it prints.
  • Drive: servo motors with a power-off brake that holds the carriage if power fails.
  • Control: dedicated wall-printer control board and RIP colour-management software; USB 3.0 data link.
  • Wiring: aviation plugs on all external cables.
  • Power: single-phase AC 220 V, 50/60 Hz, 2000 W.

The frame folds for transport.

Typical applications

FAQ

About this machine

How does it differ from the Touch-Screen 3D Wall Printer?

Both print 2.5 m high at up to 2880 dpi. The Touch-Screen model adds a second Epson head, touch-screen control and the option of white ink. This model prints CMYK only.

Can it print on dark walls?

It has no white ink, so colours printed on dark walls look darker than on screen. For dark or coloured walls choose a CMYK + white model.

How much ink does it use?

The manufacturer quotes 60–100 m² of print per litre of ink, depending on image coverage and print mode.

How do I transport it?

The frame folds, so the printer fits in a car, van or SUV.
