Handheld fiber laser welders

Handheld Fiber Laser Welding Machine 500–1500 W (MW-PW series)

Models · MW-PW500 · MW-PW750 · MW-PW1000 · MW-PW1500

A handheld continuous-wave fiber laser welder in one wheeled cabinet that holds the laser, water chiller and controller. It suits sheet-metal shops welding stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium and galvanized sheet up to 3 mm, and is an alternative to TIG welding on thin parts.

Overview

The MW-PW series is a handheld fiber laser welder for thin sheet metal. The laser source, water chiller and control system share one cabinet on castors, so the machine takes little floor space and moves as one unit.

The operator holds a light torch on a 5–10 m fiber cable and moves it freely around the part. The continuous laser beam produces a narrow, even seam. On stainless steel the seam usually shows little discoloration and needs little or no grinding. With good fit-up, the weld is as strong as the base metal.

Four power levels cover different sheet thicknesses: 1 mm at 500 W, 1.5 mm at 750 W, 2 mm at 1000 W and 3 mm at 1500 W. Welding speed runs up to 120 mm/s.

Configuration

  • Laser source: fiber laser, 1064 nm, continuous or modulated output, beam quality M² ≤ 1.1–1.2.
  • Cooling: industrial water chiller with dual temperature control, built into the cabinet.
  • Torch: handheld welding torch with interchangeable nozzles for different joint types.
  • Fiber cable: 5–10 m, length chosen at order.
  • Controls: touch screen and push-button panel on the cabinet, with a torch holder and cable hanger.

Typical applications

The machine welds carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium and galvanized sheet. Typical work includes butt (tailor), lap and fillet joints, tube elbows and T-joints, handrails, pipe fittings and signage letters. Irregular shapes are easy to follow by hand.

Options and customization

  • Power: 500, 750, 1000 or 1500 W.
  • Fiber cable length from 5 to 10 m.
  • Supply voltage and plug type to suit your country.

Every machine has a 2-year whole-machine warranty, and we train your operators free of charge at our factory in Wuhan.

FAQ

About this machine

How thick can the MW-PW series weld?

Maximum welding thickness rises with power: 1 mm at 500 W, 1.5 mm at 750 W, 2 mm at 1000 W and 3 mm at 1500 W. Results depend on material and joint fit-up, so send us a sample part if you are close to the limit.

Does it need a separate water chiller?

No. The chiller is built into the same cabinet as the laser and controller, so the machine moves as one unit on its castors.

How long is the fiber cable to the torch?

5 to 10 m. Tell us the length you need when you order.

What electrical supply does it need?

Power consumption is up to 5 kW (500 W model), 6 kW (750 W), 7 kW (1000 W) and 9 kW (1500 W). Confirm the supply voltage with us; we build machines for your local voltage and plug type.

Which joints can it weld?

Butt, lap, fillet and irregular-shaped joints, in any position. Fit the matching nozzle to the torch for the joint type.
