Overview

The MW-HW series is a handheld fiber laser welder for sheet-metal shops. The operator guides a light torch along the joint. The fiber laser melts a narrow zone, so the seam stays small and the part distorts less than with arc welding. On thin stainless steel the seam usually needs little or no grinding.

Three power levels cover most fabrication work. The 1000 W model handles sheet up to 2 mm. The 1500 W model reaches 3 mm. The 2000 W model welds stainless steel, carbon steel and galvanized sheet up to 4 mm, and aluminium alloy up to 3 mm. Output power adjusts from 10 to 100%, so one machine can weld thin and thicker parts.

Configuration

  • Laser and cabinet: continuous fiber laser source and controller in one cabinet of about 700 × 600 × 900 mm.
  • Cooling: water cooling.
  • Torch and cable: handheld welding torch on a 10 m or 15 m fiber cable.
  • Control: power range 10–100% and modulation frequency 50–5000 Hz.
  • Wire feeder: a dual-drive feeder (DC 24 V, 200 W) takes 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 or 1.6 mm wire. It has a closed chassis, a handle and castors, and an LED display that shows the feed speed.

Typical applications

Use it for stainless steel frames, corner and fillet joints, brackets, housings, and tube-to-plate or tube-to-flange joints. It welds stainless steel, carbon steel, galvanized sheet and aluminium alloy. Add filler wire when the fit-up leaves a gap or the joint needs a larger fillet.

Options and customization

  • Power: 1000, 1500 or 2000 W.
  • Fiber cable: 10 m or 15 m.
  • Supply: 220 V (1000 and 1500 W) or 380 V (2000 W), 50/60 Hz. Other voltages and plugs on request.
  • Cabinet size can be adapted to your workshop.

FAQ

About this machine

Which power should I choose: 1000, 1500 or 2000 W?

Choose by the thickest material you weld every week. On stainless steel, carbon steel and galvanized sheet the rated penetration is 2 mm at 1000 W, 3 mm at 1500 W and 4 mm at 2000 W. On aluminium alloy it is 1, 2 and 3 mm.

What power supply does it need?

The 1000 W and 1500 W models run on 220 V, 50/60 Hz. The 2000 W model needs 380 V, 50/60 Hz. We can build the machine for other voltages and plug types on request.

Can it weld with filler wire?

Yes. A dual-drive wire feeder for 0.8–1.6 mm wire is offered with this machine, with feed speed from 0.5 to 18 m/min. Filler wire helps on joints with gaps. Confirm whether the feeder is part of your quote.

Should I choose water cooling or air cooling?

This water-cooled range goes up to 2000 W. Our air-cooled 1000–1500 W welder has a smaller cabinet (650 × 300 × 570 mm) and no water circuit. Choose the water-cooled range if you need 2000 W or the 380 V option.

How large is the machine?

The standard cabinet is about 700 × 600 × 900 mm. The size can be adapted to your workshop on request.
